Q. My Local Educational Agency (LEA) has a school site that is eligible for the SFNAGP. What if my LEA does not wish to participate in this program? A. Participation in the SFNAGP is not optional. Senate Bill 6 requires that a Needs Assessment be conducted for all eligible school sites.
Q. My LEA has an eligible school site and a portion of the facilities are used solely by pupils enrolled in a Special Education program operated by another LEA. Who is required to assess those facilities? A. Those facilities will be assessed by the LEA with jurisdiction over the pupils utilizing the facilities if the Special Education program is named on the California Department of Education (CDE) list.
Q. What if my LEA would like to perform a more exhaustive assessment of facilities than the Needs Assessment Report (Form SAB 61-01) requires? A. The information requested in the Form SAB 61-01 represents the minimum assessment requirements. A more in-depth assessment may be performed, however, no additional funding will be provided to cover costs that exceed the grant amount provided in statute.
Q. How do I know what building systems are required to be assessed? A. The OPSC has developed a worksheet version of on-line needs assessment that can be printed and used to assist inspectors in the field. The worksheet lists the building systems and elements to be assessed for each building on campus. |
