SFP: New Construction Grant

FORMS/WORKSHEET

Application Submittal Requirements (New Construction)

Eligibility

SAB 50-01

SAB 50-02

SAB 50-03

Funding

SAB 50-04

Eligibility
To establish eligibility a district must demonstrate that existing seating capacity is insufficient to house the pupils existing and anticipated in the district using a five-year projection of enrollment. Once the new construction eligibility is determined, a "baseline" is created. The State Allocation Board (SAB) has adopted three forms to collect the information needed to establish eligibility.

Applications for eligibility are approved by the SAB and this approval establishes that a school district or county office of education meets the criteria under law to receive assistance for new construction. Eligibility applications do not result in State funding.

For more information on SFP eligibility refer to the School Facility Program Handbook, Section 4, Application for Eligibility.

Funding
The funding for new construction projects is provided in the form of grants. The new construction grant provides State funds on a 50/50 state and local sharing basis for public school capital facility projects. The grants are made up of a new construction grant (pupil grant) and a number of supplemental grants.

For more information on how to request funding refer to "What is a Complete Funding Application?".

For information on submitting applications for funding refer to the School Facility Program Handbook Section 5, New Construction Funding.
